  • Wrap a tape measure around your waist around the belly button and take the value. For women, over 35 inches indicates the presence of unhealthy visceral fat and over 40 inches for men.

 

  • The ratio of weight over height, Body Mass Index (BMI), can also help find visceral fat in the body. If the value exceeds 30, the chances of visceral fat presence get high.

Although it is present in a small proportion, visceral fat can bring several health problems. These can include risks of;

  • Alzheimer’s
  • Cardiovascular diseases

However, you can take some measures to prevent the occurrence of these diseases associated with visceral fat.

 

How to get rid of visceral fat?

  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day to burn visceral fat.

 

  • Try to reduce stress through stress-relieving techniques, like meditation, mindful breathing, etc.

 

  • Eat a healthy diet.   Avoid eating processed and high-sugar foods while increasing the consumption of healthy proteins, fruits and vegetables, and complex carbohydrates.

 

The dangers of visceral fat may seem extreme, but they are easily manageable.
